Plants, always near and dear to our weeks, make another appearance in The Weekly Holiday. Yay!
I pulled these "weeds" from the cracks by our steps, and Moa put some pretty succulents in her equally pretty coffee cups, which came from her grandparents' one-time cabin. (I remember them from years ago, when I met Moa on Flickr. They are so photogenic!)
This week, especially while we suffer a last of summer heatwave, I enjoy any green I can see.
I love when it's COLOR that links our photos to each other.
My dahlias and Moa's onion from last week make a perfect pair.
The evening light had caught my attention more than once last week, and Moa made some cinnamon apple goodness in some pretty cute bowls.
Cinnamon makes me think of fall. The new sweaters I'm seeing online make me think of fall. Not feeling like watering my garden anymore makes me think of fall. I better make some more sweet corn this week and do something requiring a lake or pool. I need to stay in summer mode because it will be gone much too soon. (It would be nice to wear a poncho and some boots though...)
So, July has come and gone. Here are some of the highlights from around the gardens. Mostly this is our boulevard garden. There are many things I appreciate about Minneapolis, but folks who plant their boulevard full of flowers are one of the things I appreciate most. It's like a friendly "Hello!" Often people stop and ask me the name of this flower or that (or even where I got such great wood chips, haha) and it makes me happy to know that I can share my love of gardening with passersby. And don't get me started on my own walks. I know the exact streets to walk down with the best plants, and what will be blooming where and when. It's so addictive! It's like living in one big garden. I love it.
Why hello! It's week 31. I can't believe we are into the weeks that have a 3 in front of them. A "3" people. This crazy year is getting dangerously close to something that might be considered "flying by."
Let's ease any worries of a speedy year by enjoying Moa's arctic brambles and my coneflower. Sound all right? Cool.
A little boy with no on shirt tells me it's July.
All the food I've eaten, water I've been in, and the flowers I've enjoyed tell that as well.
I've been thinking a lot of a dear friend this month, and hugging my boy so tightly too.
It's been a rich month full of friends, boxes of veggies, an explosion of color, and worries that hope and a cup of tea soothe. One more month of summer. It's one foot in front of the other.
