Reviewing October

Rainy roadtrip to Duluth.  Said a sudden goodbye to a friend.  Weekend morning along the river.  Doing some of our favorite things "one more time"...  Eating at Sea Salt, watching the fish at Bachman's, late afternoon stroll through the neighborhood.  Running down the block and walking under gorgeous fall trees.  Doodling always relives stress.  Kicking leaves helps too.  My little lion started a new adventure.  He loves it.  A heavy weight was lifted.  Everything is good.

The Weekly Holiday: week 43

Looky looky, raindrops!  Raindrops on my cabbage and raindrops on Moa's window.  So often it seems like we live much closer to each other than Minnesota and Sweden say we do on a map.  It amazes me that we can be influenced by such similar things some weeks.

Happy week 43!  Next week's photo will be saying goodbye to October.  How did November get here so fast?!  Is everyone saying that?  I can't help it, it's so true.

The Weekly Holiday: week 42

Hmmmmm... seems we were feeling quite "of the same mind" when we chose and framed our subjects.  =)

My dahlia and Moa's new plant.

Before I forget...

Longfellow Gardens, at it's most glorious in the fall.  I shot these back in September and wanted to share them before I forget.  Pretty soon snowy mush will wreak it's havoc.  But hopefully not tomorrow or something crazy like that.  Hoooopefully...

The Weekly Holiday: week 41

Happy Monday!  Happy Fall Monday!  Happy happy pretty Fall Monday!
Am I a little excited about the cozy goodness that is our week 41?  Maaaaaybe...
My sunflowers and Moa's pretty buttons and great depth of field just make me happy.

Untitled

Birch and lichen, moss and stone.  Leaves and puddles and mushrooms.

We spent the day we arrived running in the rain and wind.  Eating french fries, fish 'n chips, and wild rice soup.  Shopping for antique treasures.  Lounging and swimming, then running through the rain some more for pizza and beers.

The next day, after trying to squeeze in visits to more of our favorite places, the kid fell asleep, we drove to the highest point, and I got to steal a few minutes with my camera.  Alone.  In all this beauty.

I can't wait to take the kid here and let him explore like a hunter in a forest.  But right then, it was nice to just be me with my camera.  For all of 30 minutes.
It did me good.

The Weekly Holiday: week 40

My "pins" or legs, standing at Enger Tower in Duluth, Minnesota.  Moa's pins on her desk.

Totally had to stretch there to find the similarity between our week's photos!  Similarities are not mandatory.  It's "The Weekly Holiday" after all.  If something was "mandatory" it would just be the fact that we take the time to enjoy our surroundings.  Regardless of what they may be.

Happy week 40!

Rainy. Weekend. Getaway.

A rain-filled weekend was in the forecast.  The anniversary of the day my guy and I met was Friday.  It's been 19 years.  We pack one little bag for the three of us (kid included) and headed here.  Duluth, Minnesota.  Where we went to school.  Rain is always better on a lake.  Followed up by a hotel with a warm swimming pool.  (Which the boys enjoyed beyond measure.)  Me.  I'll take the next day, with my camera and these views.
Actually, I'll take it all.  It was wonderful.
To be honest, there were some pretty big messes, but that's how it goes when you roll with a 2 year old.  Still we'll never forget it.

More pics to come...
