White][White

As I pull my head up from my many to-do lists, I can't help but make a diptych today. It's truly one of my favorite things... a good diptych. *sigh*

June is going so fast.
*My brother's wedding invitations are done. Yay!
*I'm still hard at work, planning to get my shop open in early July.
*I keep buying more flowers for the yard.

It's getting so hot here. I was a real "sweaty betty" yesterday planting my new coreopsis and lilies. I'm very excited to see them prosper. We've struck a deal that they are going to like living here. I hope the deal holds. (And if your name happens to be Betty, I don't mean to offend, you can say you were a "sweaty shanon" next time you are hard at work in the garden.)

Here's to June and gardens and diptychs!

Pair of Bananas

I'm getting to the finish line on my brother's wedding invitations, so let's celebrate with Bananas!
I did a set of 4 fruit and veggie polaroid still lifes last night during my hiatus from technology... in other words, it was lightning out, so I shut down my computer and needed to find something fun and creative to do! I say "fruit and veggie," but really it's "fruit and onions," to be more precise. The broccoli and the yellow pepper shots did not turn out very well because I ran out of lovely colored walls and used my entry's HEAVILY stuccoed dark brown wall as a background. This resulted in what looked like a little tree of broccoli in front of a huge chocolate frosted cake. It was bizarre.

Ruffles & Cherries

"If life is a bowl full of cherries, then why do I always find new things to work on when I have a huge list to finish already?"
I think THAT is the eternal question.
I suppose you could call this a "sneak peak" at a future series. =)
Ooh! And p.s., my petunias (from an earlier post) are doing A-okay now.

This week is brought to you by the letter...

Just a reminder to myself that once I get done with my brother's wedding invitations, emboss a ton of greeting cards, find a new printer, and make photograph selections, there is still always an alphabet full of letters that need to be made pretty!
*Can I start there first?
Pretty pleeease?
I'm really looking forward to it, but I know I won't get anything else done if I don't save these for last! =)*

Tulips on the Sill

Memorial Weekend.
Windy.
Tulips tossed and torn.
Back in Minneapolis now.
Tired.
Day off tomorrow.
Smiles.

Fill the house with Flowers

If Sunday is not for Flowers, then I don't know what day is.
I've been up too early again, and it's going to be a late one tonight, but in the meantime I'll just enjoy the afternoon...

Saturday Morning

I woke up early this morning and planted the flowers in my containers for the year. Yay! I was never a morning person until just recently, and I'm so glad I am now. I really enjoy the morning light and the feeling of accomplishment when I can get things done before noon, I mean, what a concept!

It was a wonderfully warm sunny morning, when everything is fresh and full of Spring newness. By the time all my neighbors got going on their landscaping duties I was already done with my chores, so I decided to sand down and repaint my sidedoor. I did this to the lovely tune of lawnmowers. This may be only the first or second time people have gotten their mowers out, so I'm still enjoying the sound. It means there's finally no snow! I'll take the drone of a mower over the sound of metal shovels on the sidewalk-- it was a looong winter.

After checking on my Petunias this evening, it seems like some of them are not enjoying the transplanting process. I hope none of them die. It's silly, but I know I'll feel like I let them down and did something wrong. But my geraniums which were planted earlier this week looked pretty crabby after they first went in, and so far none of them have kicked the bucket. So, besides the subtle mind games between the flowers and I this morning, today was a really nice day.

SLGdesigns

My creative mission... is to explore nature, to create order and repetition in a beautiful way, to incorporate everyday items from fashion and home life, and to love every item.

I am a photographer, illustrator, and greeting card designer. I use photography to make modern memories. I love light and a good diptych. I love to illustrate with ink and also with watercolor. I could never live without my computer, scanner, and camera. My art helps me to understand the world around me as well as to understand myself.

I strive for the gorgeous and stylish in my work. The color of easter eggs abound in what I do. I adore balanced and content pieces.

I sell fine art photography, which is also available as postcards; greeting cards in both watercolor and hand drawn patterns; and wall art illustrations of patterns and monograms.

...it's a fine garden.
