Garden flowers for you!

Hi there! Wanna come help me plant the ones in the last shot? The last time we had them the rabbits thought they were delicious so I didn't get to see many blooms. But this year I plan to put them down on the boulevard in the hopes that the bunnies aren't brave enough to munch on them down there.

I actually hadn't seen any rabbits at all this year, until the day I brought these home. Then two tiny ones hopped out of the flowerbed! Guess they got the memo that the treats arrived. =)

Washing Diamonds

I've fallen back in love with the lake this summer. Back to the lake that I grew up on. It's magic. Like washing diamonds.

Goodies

I think it's interesting that my favorites this week are so complimentary. Their colors weave them together and they'd make a lovely day if I were surrounded by them in person. All these goodies, some sunshine, a bike ride to the lake, a chat with a new friend, and this song in my head...

On the Road

I wish I could hit the road today with my camera and just drive and drive, with all the time in the world to stop at every turn to snap the sights that catch my eye. But that is not on the schedule today. Soon. Hopefully.

But if you are looking for some fun to kick off summer tonight you should head to The W7 Collective, where several local writers will be signing copies of their books. Summer reading. I think that ties with hitting the road with my camera. Two favorite things.

Rooms that make me blush.

What is it about pink in a room? I've said it before, I'm not a pink girl. I don't wear pink and I don't like the connotations of "princess" that sometimes go along with it. But when it comes to pink in decor, I sooooo get it and want it.

Is it because it's warm and glamorous, like the shiny pink inside a seashell? Or because it's easier on the eyes than it's source, red? Maybe it's because it goes so well with wood, white, and metal?

Or it might simply be that a long long time ago, I grew up in a soft pink room with pink and white checkered curtains. My sense memory ties me to many things in a familiar and comforting way.

I wanted to share these rooms with you, rooms that made me blush today. Now I better finish up that kitchen painting that was started a couple weeks ago. How embarrassing that I'm not done! Hahahaha (I must not be THAT embarrassed. I didn't need to share that with you!) And then I can move on to paint that awesome desk that I showed you Monday. I'm already dreaming of the perfect knobs to put on it once it's finished... *sigh* =)

Sweet!

Thanks to my long suffering dear husband I now have in my possession this super cool desk.

I drove past it on the side of the road while on my way to a meeting last night and he left the house (and the comfort of sitting in front of the NBA finals) to pick it up for me. I should also add that I only saw the backside of it at about 20 mph, so it was incredibly nice of him to go on this task for me! =) (I have to keep kissing up, he was really irritated at the time.)

I can't wait to paint it and change the hardware. Yay!!!

Free furniture = major score.

After the long weekend...

This is the "postcard" I sent my lovely friend Moa for our TwoGirlsTwoPostcards project this week. You can read what I wrote to her and see her fun new kicks here.

How the heck is it already Wednesday tomorrow? I still need to unpack, among nine million other things. Yes, nine million. It always seem like that exact amount after a long weekend, doesn't it? =) But I'll take it. The weekend was splendid.

The weekend is coming!

Do you hear that low hum? It's the weekend coming! A HOLIDAY weekend here in the states. Good stuff. Kicking off summer kinds of stuff. I can't wait.

I noticed that I haven't been here on the blog for a week. I've been busy with my day job, going to physical therapy, painting kitchen cabinets, becoming a runner, keeping my garden alive in this sweltering weather, buying baby gifts, and catching up on laundry. (That last one sounds silly, but we all know how once it gets out of hand, it REALLY gets out of hand!)

I thought I'd share these photos with you today. I shot them at another one of my favorite places, Longfellow Garden. I stopped in there yesterday to spy their peonies. I figured since mine are out of control, that the crazy pink stripped ones they have would be exploding, but in fact, they seem to be a week behind mine.

Now I'm going to get the last coat of paint on half the cabinets so that tomorrow I can finish up. I want to come back from the weekend to a functional kitchen! I will post pics. Maybe I'll replace the hardware, so the pics might be delayed? We'll see...

Have a great day and a SUPER weekend!
